The role of the Federal Government in preventing and controlling oil pollution of the sea has taken the form of Congressional and Administrative action, judicial interpretation, and participation in International Treaties and Conventions. These comments are an effort to examine some of the problems and touch briefly upon existing authorities to control this form of pollution. A look will also be given to pending Congressional action.
