Litholysis: In Situ Dissolution of Kidney Stones

  • E. Dormia
Part of the Ettore Majorana International Science Series book series (EMISS, volume 9)

Litholysis can be obtained by oral treatment only in the case of uric acid lithiasis and in other rare situations. It can also be obtained by rinsing the stones with lytic solutions which are brought in close contact with the calculi by instrumental means.

The techniques, the solutions and the indications for instrumental lytholisis are described.

The results and the long-term experience are presented, with a follow-up of 11 years in some cases.
