Abstract
During the past several years, there has been a surge of interest in the potential applications of Piagetian theory to the classroom, especially in North American early-childhood education circles, A new curriculum movement has coalesced around the theory and a new generation of instructional programs, the so-called cognitive curricula, has emerged (for reviews, see Brainerd, 1978a; Hooper & DeFrain, 1980).
