Conceptual Models of Ill-Defined Systems

I take it that an essential property of an ill-defined system is that it lends itself to no single analysis which is both correct and also adequate to answer all relevant questions. Instead of this, we have to make use of a variety of different views, hoping to find (at least) one which is appropriate for a given purpose. These alternative analyses are only partial, and to a certain extent fictional. None of them can be taken as an account of the system “as it really is”.
