Abstract

Saline formations of intracontinental halogenic seas are among the most imposing phenomena of ancient salt deposits. They are remarkable not only for their great areal extent and great volume, and for the completeness of the halogenesis, which may reach its culmination in the eutonic point, but also for their complete restriction to the Permian period. The halogenic formations of intracontinental salt-producing seas may indeed be spoken of as specific Permian features.
