Abstract

The formation of present-day saline deposits is a very complex process. It has been determined only through experimentation into the conditions under which different minerals species are precipitated. Before setting out on an analysis of the mechanism of present-day halogenesis, therefore, it is necessary to review the basic physicochemical laws controlling the formation of solid phases of highly soluble salts.
