Accumulations of Cu-Pb-Zn; Their Origin and Distribution in Arid Regions

  • Chapter
Principles of Lithogenesis

Abstract

As in humid regions authigenic sedimentation in slightly mineralized waters of arid basins produces a number of monoclimatic, specifically arid deposits in addition to biclimatic deposits, types that may also form in moist climates. The first group includes the sedimentary ores of Cu-Pb-Zn with their accompanying elements: Cd, Ag, As, Sb, Au, Pt, and others. The second includes accumulations of P-CaCO3-MgCO3-SiO2 and of organic matter in marine oil shales. Each group will be examined.
