Ionite Permeability and Porosity
The permeability of a network electrolyte for counter-ions, besides its ion-exchange capability, is important for determining whether and how well a synthetic polymeric ionite can be used for the treatment of electrolytes using ion-exchange sorption and chromatography. The permeability of the ionite is very important when the ions of organic or physiologically active substances are involved. This is the topic of this chapter, and we shall consider ionites as networks and deal with their inhomogeneities and their abilities to form porous structures.
