Technical Diagnostics of Shafts and Bearings by Analysing Relative Speeds

Abstract

Procedures in the field of sliding bearing and rolling-element bearing diagnostics have already been knovm. Expecially with respect to rolling-element bearings, there exist procedures of acoustic emission monitoring within the sonic (e.g. K(t) method /1/) as well as the ultrasonic range (e.g. SPM method /2/). The application of these procedures, however, is dependent on a sound-transmitting connection between the bearing to be monitored and the transducer, which is not always available. Therefore a procedure for diagnosing damages at inaccessible rolling-element bearing was developed based on analysing rotary motion non-uniformities.
