Madam Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, there are good reasons in the breadth of interest of your programme why I should be here to listen, but the only reason why I am a speaker- admittedly as a guest and amateur — is that Mr. Jackson Burrows has been my friend for many years and his genuine expertise has been exploited by me so many times that I could not refuse him now. Your programme is remarkable in range and content and I wish I were able to hear it all. It reads like a directory to the problems of science in medicine or medicine in science — I am not sure which way it should be put.
