The general purpose of this project was to determine the local state of oxygenation and metabolism in brain cortex during conditions of seizure and suppression. The methods employed to achieve these goals are outlined in the following list.
  1. (1)

    Seizure or suppression was induced by drugs.

  2. (2)

    Local PO2 and local flow was simultaneously measured with the same microelectrode.

  3. (3)

    The local metabolic changes associated with the measured parameters were predicted with the aid of a mathematical model.
