Abstract

The results of artificial insemination with donor semen(AID) have been reviewed by one of the authors(J. Lansac). For all the French centers of artificial insemination, the overall pregnancy rate is 43.5%(Table 1). At the center of Lyon, it is 40%. This rather low success rate has occurred despite the selection of women under 35 years of age and without an infertility factor. The reasons for refusing a couple AID are shown on Table 2. The major cause was male infertility which was not sufficiently documented but the rate of female infertility factors was also rather high. In our center the selection has been the same as indicated in Table 2. We have evaluated at the gynaecological clinic of Hospital Edouard Herriot the influence of sub-clinical factors affecting the pregnancy rate in AID.
