Abstract

With the advent of LEAR, MeV-antiproton beams will for the first time be available with sufficiently high intensities to permit detailed investigation of interactions with gases and solids. Further, the low emittance of LEAR allows very interesting channeling experiments because now the beam divergence can be made much smaller than the critical angle for channeling, which in this energy region can be up to ~50 mrad.
