NN̄ Forces and Annihilation in the Potential Approach

Abstract

The future experimental program of LEAR by itself fully justifies, in my opinion, the necessity for a careful theoretical study of the nucleon-antinucleon interaction. Besides this, there is a theoretical reason for such a study, related to the status of the baryonium states1. The question is whether these states exist and if so, whether they can be described as NN̄ bound states or resonances. A serious answer to this question requires, of course, an accurate knowledge of the NN̄ interaction.
