Stimulated Molecular Scattering of Light
We have observed stimulated Mandelshtam-Brillouin scattering  in three sorts of optical glasses, in fused quartz, and in seven different liquids, by focusing the light of a giant pulse, obtained from a ruby laser with an output power of 80–100 MW inside these media. We studied the following liquids: carbon disulfide, benzene, toluene, water, acetic acid, nitrobenzene, and Salol, the latter two being studied over a wide temperature range (20–180°C).
