The Interferometric Control System of the Diffraction Product’s Ruling Engine

This paper briefly describes an extensively revised electronic and electromechanical control system based on the system devised by H. W. Babcock [1], The new system further reduces grating errors by the use of two Michelson interferometers, a piezoelectric crystal motor which positions the diamond in azimuth prior to the ruling of each groove, plus a completely new error-detecting and correction system.
