141Pr-NMR Investigations on the Dielectric Van Vleck Paramagnetic Compound Pr2(SO4)3 • 8H2O at Very Low Temperatures

Measurements of the longitudinal relaxation time τ1 of Pr2(SO4)3 • 8H2O at high, mean and zero magnetic induction fields in the temperature range between 40 mK and 1 K are reported. At B=0 a short τ1 T−3 is observed, depending on the crystal surface-to-volume ratio. At B=0.2 T the behavior known for relaxation through impurities is studied, and at high fields, B=4 T, a shortening of τ1 could be detected.
