Mössbauer Studies of the Er6 (Fe1−yMny)23Hx System

The R6(Fe1−yMny)23Hx compounds (R=rare earth,Y) are especially interesting for two reasons:
  1. (1)

    x=O.The high magnetic ordering temperatures observed for the boundary phases of the host materials plunge dramatically in the intermediate composition region1 (for example see Table 1).

  2. (2)

    x≠O.The effect of loading with hydrogen varies wildly2–4. It can result in either suppression or enhancement of the magnetic order, or alteration of the magnetic structure itself.
