Abstract

Lead chalcogenides, i.e., compounds of lead with elements of group VI (sulfur, selenium, and tellurium), belong to a class of semiconducting compounds described by the general formula AIVBVI. The physicochemical properties of lead chalcogenides have much in common: they are isomorphous, have the same type of chemical binding, can be prepared by methods which are (in many respects) similar, have similar phase diagrams, and can be doped in a similar manner.
