Abstract

The ubiquinol:cytochrome c — oxidoreductase (be. complex) of the photosynthetic purple non-sulphur bacterium Rhodopseudomonas viridis (Rps. viridis, Fig.1) is thought to be involved in both cyclic electron transport and proton transport across the thylakoid membrane. Although the donor site of this electron cycle, the reaction centre, has been structurally and functionally well characterised (Fig. 2) there is a little information available of the be. complex.
