Phosphoribosylpyrophosphate (PRPP) Synthetase Mutant in Salmonella typhimurium

Abstract

PRPP is an essential precursor in the biosynthesis of purine, pyrimidine and pyridine nucleotides and the amino acids histidine and tryptophan. PRPP is also a prerequisite for the utilization of preformed purine and pyrimidine bases and analogs.
