Interaction of Laser Light with Living Systems: Some Basic Guide Lines

Abstract

During the preceding part of the conference much has been said about the interaction of laser light with biomolecules. If it now comes to the point to transfer that knowledge to living matter, i.e. to the interpretation of cellular reactions occuring in response to laser irradiation, most of this information is of no use or, at least, of little help because of the tremendous functional and structural complexity forming the functional and morphological unit of life, the cell (see Fig. 1).
