Principles of Studying Suspended Materials in Water

Abstract

The sampling methods for large-volume sampling both at surface and at depth are discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of centrifuging and filtering are covered, along with practical considerations of the various types of molecular filters. Various aspects of light transmission and scattering methods and their instrumentation are evaluated. The importance of and difficulty of adequate calibration is covered briefly.
