Skills and knowledge requirements for CADCAM

  • S. A. Abbas
  • A. Coultas

This paper concentrates upon the mechanical engineering industry, to examine skills and knowledge requirements for implementation and usage of CADCAM and then to suggest ways in which these might be met.

The authors’ experience in their own organizations is drawn upon to substantiate the points made and the ideas put forward, so that the practical situation is juxtaposed with the formal teaching content. Some engineering-user experience is given and two approaches to training and re-training are outlined.
