  • H. F. Harris

Abstract

This paper examines the course entitled ‘Computer-Aided Design’ given to fourth year mechanical engineering students.

For reasons which are explained, a broader view than normal is taken of what CAD is, and the course consists of the following:
  1. (a)

    Optimization applied to design

  2. (b)

    Interactive computing for design

  3. (c)

    Introduction to computer graphics

  4. (d)

    Computer-aided NC programming

A description of the computer facilities available is given, and some programming projects which have been used are described.
