The first part of this paper details the philosophy employed in the setting up of a six-station graphics studio. It shows the way this was achieved by building on existing equipment and expertise where available and the way in which the studio and CAD can be introduced into the existing course structure.
The second part of the paper deals more with the actual setting up and day-to-day operation of the graphics studio. It details the problems with both hard and software and the various solutions to these problems where known. The student reaction is also included together with that of the staff. The paper concludes with a list of points to consider when purchasing a CAD system for operation in an education environment.
