Through yesterday and today I have been thinking about what few on-the-spot comments I could make at this time that would be useful. First of all, and particularly for those not previously involved with road-vehicle aerodynamics, I hope we have opened up many new possibilities for future research. Two things should be evident. The problems are certainly significant and challenging from a technical point of view; furthermore, they are also very interesting. We all drive cars. As we drive around, the complex and fascinating aerodynamics that surround our vehicles naturally pique the curiosity of a fluid dynamicist and make him want to understand. As we have seen, there is much that is not well understood.
