Excitation Phenomena and Temperature Measurement

Abstract

In § 5.5 Boltzmann’s law was formulated as a relation between temperature and the ratio nq/ no of the concentrations of atoms in the excited state q and in the ground state o. We shall now find an expression giving the dependence of the ratio nq/ n on temperature. It is the more important one because the total concentration n occurring here is an independent parameter.
