Model for the Calculation of Sensitivity Ultrasonic Doppler Transducers

Abstract

Theoretical estimations and experimental examinations on the sensitivity of continuous wave ultrasonic Doppler transducers show that both the acoustics as well as the electric matching have a considerable influence on the sensitivity of transducer systems. That is why model calculations are being carried out. In the case of coupled transducers we must assume that ideally there has to be a smooth piston action. The calculations are simplified by the fact that with a continuous wave operation, we only need to take the steady-state condition into consideration. Nevertheless the internal absorption of probe material and matching layers have a considerable influence.
