Methods of Investigating Phase Equilibria at High Pressures

  • Daniil S. Tsiklis

Abstract

Methods of investigation of phase equilibria can be divided into two large groups: analytic and synthetic. Analytic methods of investigation consist of determination of the composition of the phases present by analysis of samples selected from each phase. With this method, the investigator should solve two primary problems: 1) how to create the conditions providing for establishment of equilibrium between the phases, and 2) how to analyze the phases existing in equilibrium without disrupting the equilibrium conditions.
