Parts for High-Pressure Installations

  • Daniil S. Tsiklis

Abstract

Performance of experiments under high pressure requires especially careful assembly of apparatus. The quality of this assembly depends completely on the quality of manufacture of parts of the installation. Especially strict requirements are placed on threads and sealing surfaces. Threads should be rounded, i.e., without a sharp crest. In order to reduce the danger of so-called “seizing,” threads should not be dimensioned the same as the sealing surface. Usually, the separation distance left should be 3–5 mm.
