Abstract
In a recent review on the aetiology of Anorexia nervosa G. Hsu listed six main theories which are not mutually exclusive but conceptually distinct. These are: the sociocultural theory, family pathology theory, individual psychodynamic theory, the developmental psychobiology theory, the primary hypothalamic dysfunction theory, and finally the recently renewed contention that anorexia nervosa may be related to affective disorders.
