Technological Aspects and Equipment Requirements of Ultrasonic Welding

Part of the Ultrasonic Technology book series (ULTE, volume 1)

Ten or fifteen years ago, when ultrasonic welding was in its infancy, there were still a few types of welding machines that had universal applications. They were driven by any kind of generator, and the welding technology was highly imperfect. The attempts to use one type of welding machine universally proved unsuccessful under such conditions. With these considerations uppermost in mind, many types of welding machines and generators have been designed in recent years to meet specific needs. The welding technology has been greatly refined and rendered suitable for industrial utilization. The net result has been the successful solution of a number of complex problems by means of ultrasonic welding.
