Lipid Metabolism in the Human Arterial Intima with Aging and with Atherosclerosis
In preparing these introductory remarks to the discussion on chemical changes in the human artery wall with aging and with atherosclerosis I have made no attempt to provide a comprehensive review. Furthermore, I will talk primarily about lipids and touch only lightly on the connective tissue components, as these can be discussed much better by the experts on the panel. What I hope to do is to highlight some of the areas which I personally feel are particularly in need of discussion.
