Bioelectric Potential Changes in Bone During Immobilization

Abstract

A series of long term immobilization studies have been conducted on rabbits to investigate the validity of the working hypothesis that the bioelectric potentials induced by an external force field (stress) on bone mediate its normal physiology and structural integrity. The results of these studies demonstrate that a causal relationship does exist between bone decalcification and the bioelectric potential.
