Abstract
An expression for the energy distribution W(ɛ) of electrons excited by slow particles in solids is derived using the local representation for the electron wave functions. The expression for W(ɛ) is then extended to include inner shells by orthogonalization. Possible modification of the shape of W(ɛ) by the electron-electron interaction is shortly discussed.
