State to state in van der Waals complexes
The dissociation induced by the excitation of high hindered rotation levels above the dissociation limit leads to the slow predissociation of the complex on a single energy surface. This has been observed in two systems Ar-N2, and Hg-N2. No measurement and calculations on test system have been done yet in order to determine the product state distribution or the time evolution. They would be very interesting in order to test the quality of the potential energy surface and of the approximations used to treat the very high vibrational levels.
