The Hydrophobic Aggregation Flotation of Rutile Particles

Abstract

The hydrophobic aggregation flotation of fine rutile particles has been investigated. The mixture of rutile 10% and amphibole 90% has been separated by hydrophobic aggregation flotation and by conventional flotation for comparison. The size of rutile and amphibole samples is below 20μm. as a result of long time and intense agitation and addition of non-polar oit emulsion together with collector BBA, the flotation recovery of rutile could be remarkably increased. By means of the size analysis, the aggregates formation has been observed.A concentrate with grade 71.4% TiO, and recovery 89.00% has been obtained from the rutile-amphibole mixture by hydrphobic aggregation flotation,whereas by conventional flotation the grade and recovery are 26.30% TiO2 and 45.09% respectively
