Abstract
Juvenoids (juvenile hormone mimics) comprise the major class of insect growth regulators and hold promise as insect control agents. Thus, the fate of juvenoids in target and nontarget insects is of interest. Knowledge of the degradative metabolism of juvenoids is important for the rational development of more effective compounds of varying selectivity, the use of possible synergists, the prediction of application schedules, and the circumvention of resistance. The effectiveness of juvenoids as pest control agents is dependent upon a myriad of factors, but degradative metabolism by the insect is an important consideration. Hormone mimics are also of value in more basic studies of hormone action, and for these uses knowledge of their metabolism is necessary.
