Abstract

Most of the papers in this next section focus on the interaction between juvenile hormone and ecdysone. They deal with a number of questions, but three are recurrent themes. When and how do epidermal cells change their commitment from secreting larval cuticle to synthesizing pupal cuticle? Is mitosis or DNA replication necessary for this reprogramming? What is the nature of the interactions between juvenile hormone (JH) and ecdysone at the cellular level and at the level of the whole organism?
