Shell Model Masses and Nuclear Structure

Abstract

Semi-empirical mass equations are at present our only means of obtaining without too much labour numerical values for large numbers of nuclear masses. This makes the subject important for studies of nuclei far from stability, as described by Drs. Cerny, Klapisch, Nielsen and Scott during this conference.
