Measurement of (n,γ)-lines with a High-resolution Dumond-type Diffractometer

Abstract

The high resolving power of X-ray diffractometers has led DuMond and his co-workers to investigate the applicability of such a device for the detailed study of low-energy γ-spectra. Previous attempts have suffered from the extremely low luminosity of flat-crystal spectrometers. Therefore, DuMond (1) has constructed a diffractometer with a cylindrically bent, focussing crystal, the efficiency of which was about three orders of magnitude larger than that of a flat crystal.
