The spinal dorsal horns are a very complex integrative mechanism with somatotopic organization that serves not only the transmission of nociceptive information, but also its primary processing. The presence of populations of functionally different neurons with multiple connections that produce peculiarities of the structural and functional organization of the dorsal horns allow powerful GPEE to be formed in them.
