Correlation Length and Compressibility of 4He Near the Critical Point

Abstract

Measurements of the light scattering at a right angle by 4He near the critical point T c have been made as a function of temperature. From these measurements we estimated the critical index γ', which characterizes the temperature dependence of the isothermal compressibility times the density squared along the liquid side of the coexistence curve, and also derived the correlation length of helium as a function of temperature.
