Decay of Saturated and Unsaturated Persistent Currents in Superfluid Helium

Abstract

Persistent current states in superfluid helium contained in a rotating superleak have been investigated1,2 using fourth-sound techniques.3 These investigations showed that every phenomenon observed in rotating, locked superfluid helium has an analogous counterpart in a highly irreversible, high-field type II superconductor. In the present paper we report some experimental results concerning decay of superfluid helium persistent currents.
