Direct Measurement of the Dissipation Function of the Flowing Saturated He II Film
We describe here experiments to measure the profile of the chemical potential µ of the saturated liquid He II film as it flows into or out from a cylindrical beaker and show how the results provide a direct measurement of the dissipation function of the system in quantitative agreement with predictions of the thermal fluctuation model of intrinsic dissipation.†
