Discrete Steps up the Dynamic Hierarchy

Dissipative continuous and discrete nonlinear systems may show chaotic dynamics. With increasing number of variables new types of complex time evolution and higher chaos are realizable. We give examples of chaotic three- and four-dimensional continuous systems and dynamically equivalent maps. We demonstrate a building block principle for a hierarchy of chaotic attractors in invertible maps.
