Boundary Operator and Distance Measure for the Cell Lineage of Caenorhabditis Elegans and for the Pattern in Fusarium Solani

The dendogram of the cell lineage of the nematode C. elegans is derived by a distance defined on a data matrix. Its elements are the times needed to complete a period of revolution of the cell cycle or the post-mitotic lifetime. The hierarchical clustering method of complete linkage reproduces the experimental dendrogram. The construction of the data matrix from a language and the relation to boundary operations is discussed.
