Cold extremities are a well-documented complication of beta-adrenoceptor blockade.1,2,3,4,5,6 The probable mechanism is digital vasospasm. It is possible that a pharmaceutical with the additional property of alpha-adrenoceptor blockade may attenuate or avoid this phenomenon. This investigation was performed to confirm or refute this hypothesis.
