A New Approach to Scattering Theory
For a review of the appropriate reference, and for more precise definitions of the quantities used here, I refer you to a recent article by R. Sugar and myself.1 Our purpose is to develop upper and lower bounds for the phase shifts and the K-matrix elements of complicated problems. We will call a problem solved if we can write it in such a form that it can be easily integrated on a computer. All three-body and higher scattering problems are unsolvable in the sense that they cannot be coded for a finite-priced computer.
